Peggy Quotes

For me, the Peggy Seeger concert was a trip to the past -- so many coffee houses, hootenannies, and sing-alongs in the '50's and '60's, so much outrage, so much hope, so many dreams. It was a reminder of our heritage of ballads and story songs -- of our country and its roots in the Old World. - Lucy V. Parker

Peggy Quotes 2

In a world where stars can fade by age 25, it is great to review an album by a lady approaching her 70th birthday who has entertained and enlightened us for half a century. I believe that the second part of that accolade is the more important in assessing this diva of folk. Her songs always entertain but by making us think she achieves her greatest hold.

JUNE This month has virtually disappeared in work. Catching up. Selling half my library to Logan University in Utah. Buying new clothes, much needed. I drive south to attend/sing at a 50th-class reunion at Swarthmore, although I never went there. Sang there with bro Mike in 1953, 1955 and 1957 and some of the real Swarthmoreans remembered. My main memory of it was that at the 1953 event I met my lifelong dear friend Ralph Rinzler, for whom I wrote Old Friend. Beautiful, rich campus. A strange stained glass window, though. Do you see the odd man out?
