Peggy Quotes

Her multi instrumentalism (guitar, autoharp, banjo, keyboards, concertina), her unashamed fealty to the politics of folk music (where gender wars, labour laws, ecology and Napoleon jostle for space), and her magnificent voice conspired to still a surprisingly small crowd who hung on her every note and syllable. - Siobhan Long, Irish Times

Peggy Quotes 2

First off, Seeger's a daunting multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, autoharp, banjo, piano, concertina, and of course singing. However, she doesn't just play, she demonstrates a fluency surprising even for an overachiever on the banjo, and her vocals can be either bird-on-a-wire delicate or gusty, ringing with authority and surprising projection.

Irene is not well so she drives back up to Boston with me instead of flying back to New Zealand. Two days later I fly to Washington for a Mother's Day concert with my dear friends Deborah Tannen, Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer. Love working with them. Cathy and Marcy have suggested that I record some of my love poetry for Irene so they arrange a small gathering in their studio and I carry on some poetry-reading laced with self-indulgent off-the-cuff autobiography interpolations for an hour or so. Don't know what we're going to do with the recording but we will do something. Have to get Irene's permission.
