Peggy Quotes

Her multi instrumentalism (guitar, autoharp, banjo, keyboards, concertina), her unashamed fealty to the politics of folk music (where gender wars, labour laws, ecology and Napoleon jostle for space), and her magnificent voice conspired to still a surprisingly small crowd who hung on her every note and syllable. - Siobhan Long, Irish Times

Peggy Quotes 2

First off, Seeger's a daunting multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, autoharp, banjo, piano, concertina, and of course singing. However, she doesn't just play, she demonstrates a fluency surprising even for an overachiever on the banjo, and her vocals can be either bird-on-a-wire delicate or gusty, ringing with authority and surprising projection.
- Mark S. Tucker

APRIL We both have business in London so it's off to England on April 11, another horrendous trip. Stay in a rental house in Norwood. The plan was to drive to Oxford to look for a place for me to settle when I move back to England next year. Irene got sick this time and plans changed somewhat but I managed to see enough of Oxford to know that I like it very much. I've been light on the photos since then. Flew back to the States with Irene to celebrate Bro Pete's 90th birthday - with 18,000 other people in Madison Square Gardens in NYC. Star-studded cast and 4 hours of music. I decided not to sing but instead to read a letter to Pete and Toshi. It was glorious to see so many many people there. The audience made the show for me, their enthusiasm and cheering and readiness to endure a very very long program. They filmed it all and I believe a movie is going to be made of it.
