Peggy Quotes

For me, the Peggy Seeger concert was a trip to the past -- so many coffee houses, hootenannies, and sing-alongs in the '50's and '60's, so much outrage, so much hope, so many dreams. It was a reminder of our heritage of ballads and story songs -- of our country and its roots in the Old World. - Lucy V. Parker

Peggy Quotes 2

On Almost Commerically Viable, both Peggy and Irene's voices are really fresh, despite their combined ages of over a century. Peggy sounds clear and sharp in the hard-hitting song 'Guilty' and seductive in the jazzy 'Sweet Heroine'. Irene has a soft voice, high and light, which complements Peggy's voice well.

25 Irene on the Soren Larson.JPG

December 15, with the autumn weather still rampant in Boston, I fly away to New Zealand. An awful trip but Irene has given me her airmiles and upgraded me to business class for the worst leg of the trip, Los Angeles to Auckland (13 hours). From door-to-door it takes 36 hours. I travel easily but the business class was heaven. You can scoff champagne then lie down and sleep. I arrive on December 17 and on December 20 we're on the move. Drive from Kenepuru to Blenheim, fly to Wellington (North Island) and take the scenic train (12 hours) up to Auckland. Wonderful wonderful trip. We're heading for the Soren Larsen, a brigantine on which we are going to spend five days, her Christmas present to me. PEGGY HAS A ROTTEN COLD for the whole of the trip. Coughing, sneezing, aching, but the Soren was the place to be. Irene looks great though.
