Peggy Quotes

For me, the Peggy Seeger concert was a trip to the past -- so many coffee houses, hootenannies, and sing-alongs in the '50's and '60's, so much outrage, so much hope, so many dreams. It was a reminder of our heritage of ballads and story songs -- of our country and its roots in the Old World. - Lucy V. Parker

Peggy Quotes 2

On Almost Commerically Viable, both Peggy and Irene's voices are really fresh, despite their combined ages of over a century. Peggy sounds clear and sharp in the hard-hitting song 'Guilty' and seductive in the jazzy 'Sweet Heroine'. Irene has a soft voice, high and light, which complements Peggy's voice well.
- Andy Malkin

Jean Freedman, a Washington folk and history professor, is writing my biography. I visit her, she visits me every so often for an interview/visit and I talk and talk and talk and talk and talk. When you give yourself time to go into the past all kinds of memories surface from the deeps. Looking back, I'm trying to remember other items that might be of interest in the autumn. At one point I hit Media, Pennsylvania for a photo shoot with Jane Toohey whose yearly project is the Naked Folk Calendar. She puts me in a garden next to a quixotic stone head. It feels good to have no clothes on even though it's cold.
