The song is from a 1910 recording, 'May Irwin's Frog Song'. My father, Charles Seeger, composed the story to go with it, for the entertainment of his sons Charles, John and Pete. I learned the whole thing from Pete in 1955 but I tell it in my own way. (Peggy Seeger)
