INDIA TO CRACK DOWN ON DOCTORS ABORTING GIRLS

...Indian parents are choosing to abort female foetuses in such large numbers that 900,000 girls are now being lost every year.... 1. BOG SNORKELLING -  Biking through a bog wearing lead weights ... is a growing international sport.  The tiny Welsh town of Llanwrtyd Wells is plays host to the World Mountain Big Bog Snorkeling Championships.  Competitors cycle along the bottom of a 6-foot deep peat bog wearing a mask and snorkel.  A lead-filled frame and water-filled tyres ensure grip on the pond bottom.  The cyclist wears a weight belt to avoid floating off.  (Guardian, 2008)
 
2. S. AFRICAN KIDS' GAME (Johannesburg): Schools are the 'single most common' site of crimes against children, such as robbery and assault, including rampant sexual violence, some of it by teachers...South African schoolchildren are so affected by crime that they act out games involving rape and mimic robberies in the playground. One [game] cited in the report is a game played by 7-year-old children called 'rape me, rape me', in which they pretend to sexually assault each other. (The Australian, Mar 14 2008)
